New Matrix Movie Has Neo Waking Up in Sword Art Online

A brand new Matrix movie has premiered and anime fans got one heck of a surprise as the film takes place in a very familiar setting. The Matrix Resurrections, which is the fourth installment in the Matrix series, has the hero Neo waking up into the world of Aincrad which is the virtual setting of the popular anime series Sword Art Online.

“The original film took heavy influences from animes like Ghost In A Shell and Akira” said director and Kirito stan Lana Wachowski. “It only makes sense that we take it a step further and include the greatest anime ever created.”

When we reached out to Keanu Reeves for his comment, he unexpectedly did something wholesome that went viral.

On top of having to deal with fighting the nefarious machines, Neo now has to deal with a harem of waifus all competing for his attention.

One major change came to Neo’s recurring antagonist Agent Smith. Originally portrayed as a white middle-aged man, Smith has now been reimagined as a tsundere anime school girl. Smith-chan spends her time trying to get Neo senpai’s attention and saying her now world-famous catchphrase “It’s not like I wanna kill you or anything baka…”

No word yet on whether or not there are plans for any more films or a beach episode.
